Good for the Hood
Good for the Hood
This year, record numbers of people are unable to meet their basic needs. We’re seeing this unfold in streets of our hometown, and it breaks our hearts.
For over 70 years, our neighbors Metropolitan Family Service, have helped households all over the Portland metro region so that that children never go hungry, young people are educated, families are financially stable, older adults remain connected, and humans are cared for, healthy, and happy. They have seen a 400% increase in resourcing needs as result of the pandemic.
Judy Strand leads the team over at MFS, and we asked what we could do to help. She immediately connected the dots, asking that we sponsor three families in the area. We donated the entirety of our holiday gift budget to help these three families pay their rent, utilities and buy essentials like laptops and school supplies.
It feels good to give.
There are many powerful nonprofits (both in our city and in yours), and we encourage you to seek them out, finding a way to use your powers to support your local community, not just during the holidays, but all year long.
If you want to donate to MFS (who happens to be our neighbor here in Southeast Portland):
